How to play Mystery Tag

Because it’s a mod.io gamemode, there’s nothing to sideload: Quest and PC players both get it through the in-game Virtual Stump.

1. Find Mystery Tag on mod.io (mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/mystery-tag) and subscribe, logged in with your linked account.
2. Head to the Arcade in City and put on one of the green headsets to drop into the Virtual Stump.
3. First time? Link your account from the mod.io screen in the Stump by entering its code at mod.io/connect.
4. On the maps terminal, show installed maps only, pick Mystery Tag and load it. The first load pulls about 38 MB.

Under-13 accounts are blocked from the Virtual Stump, so this won’t show up for them.

Tips

• It’s tagged as a challenge/race map, so expect to restart sections. Learning one route properly beats rushing.
• With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
• The last update was December 6, 2025. Big Gorilla Tag updates can break older maps, so if it won’t load, check the mod.io page for a newer file or a note from Sleam-Lila-Silvaz.
