Download BepInEx for Gorilla Tag – Checklist Before Your First Mod

The 60-second checklist

• You’re on the PC / Steam version. BepInEx won’t run on a standalone Quest.
• You downloaded BepInEx_win_x64_5.4.23.6.zip from the official BepInEx GitHub releases (5.4.23.6 is the current stable, released October 23, 2026).
• You extracted it next to Gorilla Tag.exe, not into a new folder named after the zip.
• You launched the game once, then closed it.
• Gorilla Tag/BepInEx/plugins now exists.

If every box is ticked, you’re done and can add mods.

How to tell it really loaded

Open Gorilla Tag/BepInEx/LogOutput.log after that first launch. If the file exists and mentions the BepInEx version and Unity, the loader ran. No log at all means the game never picked it up, almost always because the files are one folder too deep.

What usually comes next

Most Gorilla Tag PC mods also want Utilla and sometimes Newtonsoft.Json or Computer Interface. Read the mod’s own notes and install those first. Monke Mod Manager can install BepInEx and these libraries in one pass.

Undoing it

Delete winhttp.dll from the game folder. The game then starts without loading anything, and you can put the file back later. To clean up fully, also delete doorstop_config.ini and the BepInEx folder, or use Steam’s “Verify integrity of game files”.
