The Pen Camera Mod for Gorilla Tag – PC Install Notes

The Pen Camera Mod is a small PC utility aimed at people recording or streaming Gorilla Tag rather than at gameplay. We couldn’t locate an official repository or changelog for it, so this page doesn’t list unverified features. It focuses on setup and how to keep a recording setup stable.

Installing a PC plugin like this

PC mods for Gorilla Tag are DLL plugins loaded by BepInEx 5 (x64). The usual stack is BepInEx in the game folder, run the game once, then the plugin goes in Gorilla Tag/BepInEx/plugins. Many mods also want Utilla. The legoandmars original stopped at 1.6.14 in 2024, and current builds come from the maintained sirkingbinx/Utilla (1.7.2 as of October 2026).

Using it safely

Stick to private codes and the Modded gamemodes. It’s not a competitive advantage tool, but any mod in public lobbies can draw reports.

Does it work on Quest?

Short answer: only through a PC. The game has to be running on Steam with BepInEx; a Quest connected by Link or Virtual Desktop counts, a Quest on its own doesn’t.

Troubleshooting

Broke after an update. Game patches change the code mods hook into. If nobody maintains The Pen Camera Mod, it stays broken. There’s no setting to fix that.

Defender removed something. BepInEx’s winhttp.dll proxy gets quarantined fairly often. Restoring it is fine if BepInEx came from its GitHub releases. A flagged menu DLL deserves more suspicion, not less.

Works only in modded rooms. If The Pen Camera Mod depends on Utilla, it disables itself outside modded gamemodes on purpose.
