OctoCam Mod for Gorilla Tag – Recording Setup & Fixes

OctoCam Mod is a small PC utility aimed at people recording or streaming Gorilla Tag rather than at gameplay. We couldn’t locate an official repository or changelog for it, so this page doesn’t list unverified features. It focuses on setup and how to keep a recording setup stable.

Setup

Drop the DLL into BepInEx/plugins, not the game root. BepInEx has to be there first: extract the x64 zip next to Gorilla Tag.exe and launch once so the folders get created. If the mod expects Utilla, install a current Utilla build. Older Utilla versions no longer load on the current game.

Using it safely

Keep gameplay mods to modded gamemodes or private codes. Another Axiom’s terms forbid cheating, and the community wiki notes that every mod carries some ban risk, even in modded rooms.

Troubleshooting

Defender removed something. BepInEx’s winhttp.dll proxy gets quarantined fairly often. Restoring it is fine if BepInEx came from its GitHub releases. A flagged menu DLL deserves more suspicion, not less.

Broke after an update. Game patches change the code mods hook into. If nobody maintains OctoCam Mod, it stays broken. There’s no setting to fix that.

Nothing happens in-game. Open BepInEx/LogOutput.log and search for OctoCam Mod. No mention means BepInEx never loaded it. Usually that’s the wrong folder, a missing dependency, or a build compiled against an older game.

Quest vs Steam

Short answer: only through a PC. The game has to be running on Steam with BepInEx; a Quest connected by Link or Virtual Desktop counts, a Quest on its own doesn’t.
