The Poolrooms is a medium-sized custom map for Gorilla Tag, made by PurpsOfficial and published on mod.io. Its listing describes it simply as “The poolrooms is a liminal space/level from the backrooms! Here you can run around, sunbathe and go for a little swim! Enjoy!” It’s tagged on mod.io as competitive, minigames, roleplay, hangout, so that’s the kind of session to expect.

Loading The Poolrooms in Gorilla Tag

You don’t install The Poolrooms like a PC mod. Gorilla Tag downloads it for you once you’re subscribed, on Quest or PC.

  1. Find The Poolrooms on mod.io (mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/the-poolrooms1) and subscribe, logged in with your linked account.
  2. Head to the Arcade in City and put on one of the green headsets to drop into the Virtual Stump.
  3. If the terminal says you’re not linked, enter the code it shows at mod.io/connect.
  4. Use the terminal to filter to installed maps, then select The Poolrooms and press load. Expect a ~37 MB download the first time.

Custom maps aren’t available to accounts registered under 13.

Tips

  • It’s tagged Hangout, which usually means it’s best with a few friends in a private code rather than a full random lobby.
  • The Roleplay tag means much of the fun depends on the group you play with. Agree on the scenario before you start.
  • With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
  • This one leans into horror. If you’re playing with younger siblings or friends who scare easily, give them a heads-up.
  • The last update was May 12, 2025. Big Gorilla Tag updates can break older maps, so if it won’t load, check the mod.io page for a newer file or a note from PurpsOfficial.
