Getting into ACT 1 the backrooms hallway

ACT 1 the backrooms hallway doesn’t need BepInEx or any PC mod loader. It runs through the official mod.io integration, so it works on Quest and on Steam/PC VR.

1. Open mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/the-backrooms-hallway and hit Subscribe. Use the same mod.io login that your headset is linked to.
2. Head to the Arcade in City and put on one of the green headsets to drop into the Virtual Stump.
3. If the terminal says you’re not linked, enter the code it shows at mod.io/connect.
4. On the maps terminal, show installed maps only, pick ACT 1 the backrooms hallway and load it. It’s around 13 MB, so the first load takes a bit.

Note: accounts registered as under 13 can’t enter the Virtual Stump.

Tips

• It’s a light download (about 13 MB), so it loads quickly even on slow Wi-Fi.
• It’s tagged Hangout, which usually means it’s best with a few friends in a private code rather than a full random lobby.
• With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
• This one leans into horror. If you’re playing with younger siblings or friends who scare easily, give them a heads-up.
