Spire of Hell (Chained Together) – Gorilla Tag Custom Map by LilaMcG Gorilla Tag mod cover preview

Spire of Hell (Chained Together) is a medium-sized custom map for Gorilla Tag, made by LilaMcG and published on mod.io. On its mod.io listing it’s summed up as “Enter the Spire of Layers of TORTURE. Play with friends and connect ropes using REAL ROPE PHYSICS. Or don’t—try casual, infection, or paint brawl. Discover secret rooms and grief your friends!” It’s tagged on mod.io as challenge, competitive, roleplay, race, custom game, so that’s the kind of session to expect.

Spire of Hell (Chained Together): what the creator describes

Here’s how LilaMcG describes it on the listing:

The Spire of Layers of TORTURE is a chaotic Gorilla Tag map built for friends and fun. Climb through a massive, multi-layered spire and experiment with ropes using realistic physics to swing, connect, and interact with your friends. Discover secret rooms scattered throughout the spire—mostly empty, but perfect for hiding or messing with others. Try casual, infection, or paint brawl for normal gameplay, or find the hidden chaos mode where the entire spire spins for a wild, disorienting experience (warning: very high motion sickness). Every layer offers new opportunities for fun, creativity, and friendly chaos.

How to play Spire of Hell (Chained Together)

Because it’s a mod.io map, there’s nothing to sideload: Quest and PC players both get it through the in-game Virtual Stump.

  1. Subscribe to Spire of Hell (Chained Together) at mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/spire-of-hell while logged in to the mod.io account you’ve linked to Gorilla Tag.
  2. Head to the Arcade in City and put on one of the green headsets to drop into the Virtual Stump.
  3. If the terminal says you’re not linked, enter the code it shows at mod.io/connect.
  4. Pick Spire of Hell (Chained Together) from the installed list on the maps terminal and load in. Expect a ~7 MB download the first time.

Under-13 accounts are blocked from the Virtual Stump, so this won’t show up for them.

Things worth knowing

  • It’s a light download (about 7 MB), so it loads quickly even on slow Wi-Fi.
  • It’s tagged as a challenge/race map, so expect to restart sections. Learning one route properly beats rushing.
  • The Roleplay tag means much of the fun depends on the group you play with. Agree on the scenario before you start.
  • With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
