Getting into Sky Island

Sky Island doesn’t need BepInEx or any PC mod loader. It runs through the official mod.io integration, so it works on Quest and on Steam/PC VR.

1. Find Sky Island on mod.io (mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/sky-island) and subscribe, logged in with your linked account.
2. In City, walk into the Arcade and use a green VR headset; that takes you to the Virtual Stump.
3. Not linked yet? The account screen in the Stump gives you a code to type in at mod.io/connect.
4. Use the terminal to filter to installed maps, then select Sky Island and press load. The first load pulls about 18 MB.

Under-13 accounts are blocked from the Virtual Stump, so this won’t show up for them.

Things worth knowing

• It’s a light download (about 18 MB), so it loads quickly even on slow Wi-Fi.
• With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
• The last update was December 6, 2024. Big Gorilla Tag updates can break older maps, so if it won’t load, check the mod.io page for a newer file or a note from BrokenStone.
