McMonkey's Playplace – Gorilla Tag Custom Map by PurpsOfficial

Mod Previews & Screenshots

McMonkey’s Playplace comes from mod.io creator PurpsOfficial. It’s a medium-sized map for the official Gorilla Tag custom map system. The creator’s one-line pitch: “McMonkey’s Playplace is a large map that is based off those parties that you would have in your childhood. This map contains many areas. But whatever you do, don’t enter the staff rooms…” It’s tagged on mod.io as competitive, minigames, so that’s the kind of session to expect.
McMonkey’s Playplace: what the creator describes
Here’s how PurpsOfficial describes it on the listing:
McMonkey’s Playplace is a large map that is based off those parties that you would have in your childhood. This map has various areas to explore, these areas consist of PARTY ROOMS, THE ARCADE and THE PLAY PLACE! But whatever you do, don’t enter the staff rooms…

Getting into McMonkey’s Playplace
Because it’s a mod.io map, there’s nothing to sideload: Quest and PC players both get it through the in-game Virtual Stump.
- Jump into the Virtual Stump from the green headsets in City’s Arcade.
- Not linked yet? The account screen in the Stump gives you a code to type in at mod.io/connect.
- Subscribe to McMonkey’s Playplace at mod.io/g/gorilla-tag/m/mcmonkeys-playplace while logged in to the mod.io account you’ve linked to Gorilla Tag.
- On the maps terminal, show installed maps only, pick McMonkey’s Playplace and load it. It’s around 124 MB, so the first load takes a bit.
Note: accounts registered as under 13 can’t enter the Virtual Stump.
Tips
- With competitive or minigame tags, sessions play better when everyone has already loaded the map before the round starts.
- The last update was May 3, 2025. Big Gorilla Tag updates can break older maps, so if it won’t load, check the mod.io page for a newer file or a note from PurpsOfficial.
