Monke UP Map for Gorilla Tag – Legacy Map File Guide

Monke UP Map is a fan-made Gorilla Tag map that was shared as a standalone file rather than through the official mod.io system. We couldn’t find a current official listing for it, so this page explains what that means for actually playing it today.

Can you still play it?

Standalone map files were built for the community Monke Map Loader, a PC BepInEx mod whose last release (1.2.2) is from June 2023. It needs BepInEx, Utilla, Computer Interface, Bepinject/Extenject and Newtonsoft.Json. Current game updates may stop it loading at all.

If you’re on Quest, or you just want something that works today, the official route is mod.io maps in the Virtual Stump (Arcade in City → green headset). Search mod.io for a remake of Monke UP before fighting with old loaders. Our Monke Map Loader page covers the legacy setup.

Where to use it

Keep gameplay mods to modded gamemodes or private codes. Another Axiom’s terms forbid cheating, and the community wiki notes that every mod carries some ban risk, even in modded rooms.

Common problems

• Defender removed something: BepInEx’s winhttp.dll proxy gets quarantined fairly often. Restoring it is fine if BepInEx came from its GitHub releases. A flagged menu DLL deserves more suspicion, not less.
• Crash at startup: Take Monke UP Map out of plugins first. If the game starts, the mod is the problem. If it still crashes, update BepInEx: 5.4.22 and older crash on current builds.
• Nothing happens in-game: Open BepInEx/LogOutput.log and search for Monke UP Map. No mention means BepInEx never loaded it. Usually that’s the wrong folder, a missing dependency, or a build compiled against an older game.

Does it work on Quest?

It’s PC-only. Quest players can use it only when playing the Steam version through a cable or wireless PC link. Nothing installs on the headset itself.
